چکیده
This note, which is intended for eventual inclusion in a larger paper, provides an example of a game form for which there is an open set of payo s, as functions of outcomes, such that each payo in the set induces a game with a continuum of equilibrium distributions over outcomes. Consider the following game form in which agent 1 is the row player, agent 2 is the column player, and agent 3 is the matrix player:

How Can Cooperative Game Theory Be Made More Relevant to Economics? : An Open Problem
Game Theory pioneers J. von Neumann and O. Morgenstern gave most of their attention to the cooperative side of the subject. But cooperative game theory has had relatively little effect on economics. In this essay, I suggest why that might be and what is needed for cooperative theory to become more relevant to economics. Cooperative game theory is the part of game theory that pertains when playe...
متن کاملThe Payoff Region of a Strategic Game and Its Extreme Points
The range of a payoff function in an n-player finite strategic game is investigated using a novel approach, the notion of extreme points of a nonconvex set. A basic structural characteristic of a noncooperative payoff region is that any subregion must be non-strictly convex if it contains a relative neighborhood of a boundary point of the noncooperative payoff region. This can be proved efficie...
متن کاملBehavioral Foundations of Reciprocity: Experimental Economics and Evolutionary Psychology
Laboratory experiments have generally supported the theorem that, in classical property rights environments, noncooperative behavior in markets yields efficient social outcomes. Experiments, however, regularly fail to support the game theoretic prediction of noncooperative behavior in small-group strategic interaction and in large-group public good environments. In these two types of experiment...
متن کاملA Noncooperative Reformulation of the Core (Preliminary and Not for Circulation)
It is proved that the core in a general setting for cooperative games is equal to the set of subgame perfect equilibria of a noncooperative game of competing contracts. A coalitional deviation in a cooperative game corresponds to, in the noncooperative game, the involved agents’ participation in a contract proposed by a deviating principal. ∗Department of Economics, Iowa State University, 260 H...
متن کاملAn Approach to Fuzzy Noncooperative Nash Games
Systems that involve more than one decision maker are often optimized using the theory of games. In the traditional game theory, it is assumed that each player has a well-defined quantitative utility function over a set of the player decision space. Each player attempts to maximize minimize his her own expected utility and each is assumed to know the extensive game in full. At present, it canno...
